What should be shown on your mailbox or letter slot?
To ensure that your mail is delivered correctly, it must be clear who receives mail at your address. All residents who expect to receive letters or parcels should be listed on the mailbox or next to the letter slot, including children, tenants, or anyone else using the address.
At a minimum, include the last name and initials, for example
“P. Jensen.”
If you live in a building with multiple units, you may also need to include details such as the floor, unit number, or apartment identifier to help the mail carrier find the correct recipient.
Use self-adhesive letters or a nameplate made from weather-resistant materials so the information remains visible and does not fade or fall off over time.
